On November 9, 2009, Allen Smith, a 32 year trucking veteran and advocate for fellow drivers, had the opportunity to engage in the Second episode of Dan Rather’s investigation into trucking on Dan Rather Reports.
As you may remember, the first episode was titled “Queen of the Road” and featured Desire Wood, an OTR driver for Covenant Transport. Also featured was Tom Hansen, an ex CRST employee.
Wood briefly described her story ( full version here) of how she felt her training at CDL school was inadequate and that her team training experience was less than to be desired ( putting it mildly).
These 2 videos had the trucking world rocking, forcing the industry to address situations that were not “spoken of” outside of the trucking forums.
